November 2010

I'm not sure if anyone is still out there looking at this blog. I have been away for a while. We have been workamping since the last post.

Last summer we ended up in Carlsbad, New Mexico. We had a great summer enjoying the "High Desert". It was certainly hot, but not muggy. Temperatures reached over 100 degrees for about a week, but we got thru it.

I then went to work for Amazon.com for their Holiday/Christmas Season. We ended up in Boerne, Texas where I worked for H&R Block till mid April.

We spent our summer in Pittsburgh, PA. We worked at the KOA there.

We are now in the process of finding a winter job for 2010-2011.

Another day at Koyote

We got a great report from the surgeon at the post-op check-up. Jim will be able to drive home when we get to that point. We are looking forward to being in the Adirondacks for the summer, and seeing Mike and Gina again. We love working at the Yogi park. The kids are fun, and so are the adults!! Hopefully, Jim can contribute. I know Gina will have him paint some characters and things. Then as the summer rolls on, he can do his maintainence thing.

Things are heating up here at Koyote, the biker rallies around us are keeping the park pretty full. And we are fairly busy. We love to be busy. This morning, we had rain, which is good for us here. We have been in a drought situation for months now. Along with adding to the water table, everything is starting to turn green here. It looks good!! I hope we are still here when the bluebonnets come out. I would love to see that before we leave here.

Today is tax day for us, we will go to town and have our taxes done. Hopefully, everything will work out ok. We are newbies at this sort of thing, and taxes is one of those necessary evils. When you work in different states that have income tax requirements, you have to file state taxes even though you aren't a resident of that state. What a bummer!!!

Time to sign off for now. Hopefully, the next time I post, we will be "On the Road Again".

This is Mom and me in San Antonio. It was at the end of the day, and we were very tired.

Our Day Off

Our day off today started with taking Daisy to the Groomer. Boy!, did she need a clipping!!! Well she looks great now!

See how cute she looks!!! She also had her picture taken with "Daddy".

This is my husband and his best "girl". He's feeling so much better now that he is home in his own environment.

While Daisy was getting herself all beautiful, we went grocery shopping in Bandera. The day was very wet and drizzly. We stayed in and watched TV. I browsed the internet. (My favorite pastime).

Here's some pictures I took on better days.

We are on top of a ridge here. The hills look gorgeous. It's hard to see from these pictures, but we are pretty high up here. These pictures were taken in the afternoon on beautiful warm days.

The Patient is "Home"

Hello everyone! Jim is back with me in the RV. We arrived here on Tuesday February 10. His spirits are good, and he feels much better being "home". The surgery went well. He has to wear a brace for a while on the right leg. We will be traveling back "North" for a follow-up visit with the surgeon on March 1. Thank you to all who prayed for us. We appreciate it. Your comments on the blog were helpful too.

I am still working my hours at Koyote Ranch. We are in "Winter" mode with fewer hours a week. Soon we will be in "Spring" mode and we will be working harder. Once Jim can drive, we will be making our way back north in the RV. We will spend our summer at Yogi Bear @ Paradise Pines, where we worked last summer. We had fun working for Mike & Gina. They are great people.

This is us last summer with Yogi & Boo Boo! We can't wait to get back there!

Update on Hospital Stay

Hello everyone. Jim is being released from the hospital today. His surgery went well. The Dr. replaced his right hip. Of course, he's in a bit of pain, but good medication takes care of that issue.

We are very thankful for some good friends of ours, Jack and Barbara Hanson. They offered their home to us during Jim's recovery. There is no way we can repay their kindness.

I stayed with them for a few days while Jim was in the hospital. I am now back in Texas. Jim is recovering at Jack and Barbara's home. Jim cannot fly for 2 weeks after surgery. He insisted I return to Texas to work, and to look after Daisy (our Bichon Frise).

For me, today is my first day back at work after being gone for 11 days. Thanks to all who offered prayers. I feel we are very lucky to have so many friends praying for Jim and offering help whenever it was needed.

Thank you All!!

Friday January 16

Today is Friday, 4 days to go before we fly north for our surgery appt. Jim is feeling the strain of it. MAN is he cranky!!! Once we get there he will be better I hope. We had an enjoyable Wednesday evening which made things nicer.

We arranged to meet our friends George & Shirley at a nearby restaurant. They brought along other workamper friends, Janie & Vince. We had a wonderful time!! We talked of common items to workampers. How we love the lifestyle, and different management techniques. We love being at Koyote Ranch. Gloria and Asha are wonderful bosses. The park is a bit out of the way, but we love the atmosphere here.

We (I) will keep everyone posted on our whereabouts. I'm hoping to take the laptop with me, but weight will be a consideration, since Jim can't really carry anything for me. I will be coming home alone too. Oh well, we will see later what I decide.

A New Year

Hello everyone. Sorry I haven't been updating my blog regularly. We have had some medical issues which have taken precedence. My husband needs another hip revision. We have been flying home (to Massachusetts) for doctors appointments and such. We are still here in Texas at Koyote Ranch. I am working in the Office/Snack Bar. The Managers here have been very accommodating with my schedule. I thank them for helping us out in this way.

On January 20, my husband and myself will be flying back to Boston, Massachusetts for his upcoming surgery on his right hip. He will spend about 2 weeks in rehab after his surgery. Meanwhile, he has asked me to come back to Texas without him. (Something I DO NOT WANT to do.) I will do this since he has requested it of me. We also have Daisy to worry about. She will be in a Kennel here for about 11 days. I don't really want to leave her there any longer than that.

Other than the medical issues, we are having a wonderful time here in Medina Texas. The area is beautiful. We enjoy the lovely hills. And it is so much warmer than Massachusetts!! The daytime temps here have been around 50 - 80 degrees depending on the wind!!! So much warmer than single digits they are having back "home".

I will definitely try to keep everyone updated on my husband's progress. Hope everyone is well and having a great new year!!
